The af2m (French Association for the development of Multi-operator Multimedia services and uses) today unveils the statistics for the RCS (Rich Communication Services) protocol in France for the fourth quarter of 2025. The emblematic milestone of 50 million smartphones supporting RCS has been surpassed, now constituting 83% of the total French mobile fleet.

Unprecedented deployment validates the success of RCS for professionals

In twelve months, the volume of devices supporting RCS jumped from 28,3 to 50 million, an increase of +76.7%. At this rate, the target of 85% compatibility will be reached before the end of the fiscal year. The RCS protocol thus positions itself as the most widespread communication vector, surpassing OTT platforms.

Professional RCS attracts a growing number of brand

This near-global reach directly stimulates the integration of RCS for Business by companies. 421 brands currently use it, which is 2.5 times more than a year ago (172 at the close of Q4 2024). A third of these entities are new advertisers, won over by the channel’s reliability and the excellence of the exchanges it offers.

The volumes of rich messaging campaigns increased by +75%, attesting to the incorporation of RCS for professionals into the marketing plans of French companies.

Three activity areas drive expansion

Three activity segments account for 47% of companies adopting professional RCS:

  • Services (training, mobility, aesthetics, etc.): 21%
  • Automotive: 13%
  • Retail: 13%

The Banking and Insurance sector also shows remarkable vitality with 17 new advertisers, convinced by the increased security of the channel and the systematic authentication of senders by operators.

The Real Estate, Telecom, and Tourism sectors complete this picture, constituting 32% of active entities in 2025.

"With over 50 million compatible smartphones, RCS is now the most universal channel on the market. Its native presence in phones, brand verification by operators, and the richness of formats make it a unique solution for conversational marketing. The acceleration in the number of brands that have used RCS for Business technology, as well as the volume and recurrence of campaigns, demonstrate that 2025 will have been the year of brands' conversion to RCS for Business."
